Description
Presents portraits of four men whose actions as heads of their respective central banks caused the Great Depression and set the stage for World War II: Montagu Norman of the Bank of England; Émile Moreau of the Banque de France; Hjalmar Schacht of the Reichsbank; and Benjamin Strong of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. They shared a fear of inflation and their commonly held belief that the gold standard was the solution proved to be a straitjacket rather than a force of stability.
